About Room 101Every year, goals are set for the class that include high expectations and hard work. I'm in this 100% so I expect my students to do the same. We start our school year with early Americans - how did people get from wherever they were (the Middle East is a generally agreed upon area both historically and religiously) to what would become North America. We then focus on colonization, creating a nation, and finally, just before Christmas Break, the American Revolution. Exciting stuff! Once we return after the New Year, we focus on the "what now" after we have freed ourselves from the British. We look at government, early presidents, problems and solutions, and, just before we release for summer, the Civil War. Keep up to date with the class calendar on the home page.

About Mrs. Watson |
Hello! First, you should know that I am pretty amazing! Just throwing that out there from the start.
I am an Affton alum (K-12) and a Lindenwood University graduate. I have a degree in history, minor in social studies, secondary education endorsement, and am certified to teach history and social studies in grades 5-12. That is a mouth full! I also have a Master's in educational administration. I love school and will be seeking my Ph.D in education when my son enters kindergarten. I have been teaching in the Fox C-6 school district for 8 years - 7 at Ridgewood Middle and 1 at Fox High School. I have taught 7th grade Geography, 9th grade World History, 11/12th grade Sociology, and 8th grade American History. Life outside of RMS? Is there such a thing? I like to remind my students that yes, there is. Teachers don't actually sleep under their desks. Outside of RMS, I have a wonderful family. My husband, Todd, and I are high school sweethearts (awww) and have been married 6 years. We have a wonderful, crazy, energetic little boy, Jax, who is 4. We also have a dog, Cabo, who is 7, and a K9 officer named Fanta. We like traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks or anywhere else near the water. Outside the 4 walls of room 101, I like to read, write, spend time with my family and friends, garden (though my garden dies every year), and explore the world around me. |
About Mr. Richmond |
Hello, my name is Tom Richmond and I team teach with Mrs. Watson 2nd Hour.
I find kids to be addictively inspirational! Where lots of adults seek caffeine…I look to kids. Life's a journey with challenges and joys and a person’s character and knowledge form as they pass through each stage. It is my personal goal to help students develop excellent character and to increase their knowledge as they mature in middle school. I grew up in Kirkwood and I attended Kirkwood schools from kindergarten to High School. I graduated in the Class of 1986 (lol…it’s a Saint Louis thing!) Straight out of high school I attended Southwest Missouri State University and earned a teaching degree in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders K-12. I then attended Webster University and earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. I have been married for 27 years and we have four beautiful children. Our oldest child, Christopher, is 26 years old. We have three other daughters; Alex who is 23, Abi who is 10 and Sarah who is 8. I love spending my free time with my family, thru hiking, and working on and driving classic cars. Directly from college I began teaching at The Churchill School. After teaching there for four years I took on a teaching position at Fox High School with the students who have autism. Sixteen years later I was looking for something new when a position at Ridgewood opened up. This is my sixth year at Ridgewood teaching both 7th and 8th graders. At Ridgewood I have taught Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. I currently teach 7th grade Geography and 8th grade American History. I absolutely love teaching at Ridgewood and plan to stay here until I retire. |
